War in Iraq
began Mar. 2003
To most of you
They’re just a name
Another statistic
They became
Recognition
They weren’t seeking
Soldiers in war
For our safekeeping
They went to Iraq
A place far away
Restoring the peace
Would it come one day
How many captured
How many maimed
How many lives
Has this war claimed
To you they’re just
A name you did see
In the late afternoon
While watching TV
To their family and friends
This loss is so great
They were willing to fight
And not hesitate
To most of you
They’re just a name
I can’t help but think
George Bush feels the same
