A mega million jackpot

A mega million jackpot
I bought a lotto ticket
I didn’t choose my numbers
I let the computer pick it

I only bought 3 tickets
I’m sure that I won’t win
But why not take a chance
So, with this game I’m in

How will I spend this money
I’ve given it some thought
A summer place I’ll buy
I will not buy a yacht

I’ll give some to my family
Though there aren’t many
And perhaps to friends
I hardly do have any

I know I’ll give to charity
But I’ll be very sure
The money’s really going
To the people who are poor

My home is very nice
I doubt that I will move
My yard needs lots of work
And that I will improve

Though money can’t buy health
And that I know for sure
It really helps a lot
It’s better than being poor

Look, don't touch

Beautiful girls
In bikinis they walk
Along the runway
While the men gawk

In front of millions
These girls have no shame
Displaying themselves
On the road to fame

Miss America
They’re hoping to be
And they don’t mind
Dressing scantily

Bikinis are worn
No longer one piece
Showing more skin
Their chances increase

A scholarship pageant
That’s what they say
While 50 ladies
Are on display

Look, don’t touch
And never harass
Cause you’ll be told
You’re a snake in the grass

18 Years Since Y2K

It’s been 18 years
Since Y2K
They predicted computers
Would not be okay

By only programming
Two-digit numbers
They couldn’t prevent
This soon to be blunder

While the century was ending
On New Year’s Eve
As we sang Auld Lang Syne
Soon to get a reprieve

The computers still worked
Nothing drastic had occurred
Our lives have continued
Though for no one undeterred

Frozen Embryos

Because there are thousands
Of frozen embryos
It's a dilemma
They have nowhere to go

With too many eggs
The woman produced
They were fertilized
But all weren't induced

Those not used
Must be frozen
And no one knows
If the best were chosen

If they get destroyed
These tiny embryos
Is it like an abortion
Does no one oppose

Some get adopted
In another it will grow
But the egg it came from
Will the child want to know

Joy to the world

Joy to the world
In church we sing
The Lord has come
And blessings he'll bring

I don't always believe
There's joy all around
When people are suffering
Even in our hometown

When we see on TV
All the women who proclaim
That they were harassed
Though some achieved fame

When we see on TV
That our own President
Has caused so many
To become discontent

When we see on TV
All those people were shot
With an illegal gun
The shooter had bought

Those hurricanes
Caused many to despair
And relentless fires
Destroyed without a care

There's joy to be had
Though you're filled with grief
It's yours when you're ready
All it takes is belief

Left right left

Lean to the left
Lean to the right
Stand up, sit down
Fight, fight, fight

A little chant
We used to say
At footballs games
When our team played

But now the left
Will march and fight
Against the right
Both day and night

That only whites
In the USA
It's what is said
By the KKK

They hate the Jews
It's what they say
And nasty chants
They hurl their way

A DNA
They all should get
Completely white
Just few I'll bet

On one knee

You'll stand in church
When you pray
And on one knee
You dare not stay

For civil rights
It's what you say
While you earn
A lot of pay

Shame on you
Disgraceful men
Your actions truly
Do offend

Head injuries
With lasting effects
But you are among
The crazy male sex

Marijuana

It's known as pot
It's known as weed
And can be grown
From just a seed

Before it was legal
In more than one state
When caught with too much
Prison could be your fate

Like drinking and driving
When you're smoking weed
Your train of thought
It sure will impede

Some say it helps
Those who are sick
But those buying pot
They should carefully pick

Water Aerobics

I'll ride a bike
And cross country ski
All at one place
Is where you'll find me

I like jumping rope
On one foot or two
Go skipping around
But we're not through

Jumping jacks
And legs to swing
We do just about
Everything

Tuck in your abs
While standing tall
Having good posture
Is needed by all

My backache is gone
My tummy looks flatter
Although I snack
I'm not any fatter

At water aerobics
There's so much to do
And lots of fun
I've had with you

Salt and Pepper

The recipe calls
For salt and pepper
Because they always
Go together

Salt is white
Pepper is black
Without this combo
Flavor it lacks

In every kitchen
You’ll always find
Salt and pepper
To use combined

On restaurant tables
You’ll always see
Salt and pepper
But use sparingly

Black or white
It doesn’t matter
But don’t put pepper
In your cake batter

Canadian Rockies Tour - Gate 1 (2017)

We met in Calgary
And toured the city
With towering buildings
Where no place is gritty

At the hotel, Prince of Wales
People came to imbibe
The booze was legal
Without paying a bribe

On the Watertown Lake
The boat ride was great
And we learned that bald eagles
Choose only one mate

And thousands of berries
Bears have to ingest
Before they can get
A long winter’s rest

Crossing into Montana
For a full day of fun
In a red touring car
On a road to the sun

Big sky country
Living up to its name
A more beautiful place
Would be hard to proclaim

Perched high on a hill
The Banff Springs Hotel
It looks like a castle
And has stories to tell

Overlooking the mountains
The gondola ride
Spectacular views
Both in and outside

Through tunnels we drove
To Lake Louise
So safely the animals
Could cross when they please

Six melting glaciers
Formed Lake Louise
Don’t tip your canoe
Otherwise you’ll freeze

In the valley of glaciers
An endless chain
Along Glacier Parkway
It’s their domain

The lakes and rivers
And jagged mountains
Plus waterfalls flowing
Like gigantic fountains

Mountain goats and sheep
And a big black bear
They kept on eating
Ignoring our stares

A hike at Maligne Canyon
A boat ride at Maligne Lake
A stop on Spirit Island
More photos to take

Our final destination
An ice field to explore
A ride onto a glacier
Soon it will be no more

Canadian money
It doesn’t look real
And the rate of exchange
Has great appeal

And who can forget
The beautiful flowers
Adorning the cities
Arranging took hours

Our tour guide, Virginia
Was so full of knowledge
I thought I was taking
A course in college

And Bob, the bus driver
Carried our load
Cleaning our hands
Before hitting the road

Happy trails to you all
Though our journey did end
We had a great time
And we’ll all recommend

Will your marriage last

A high school sweetheart
A college romance
Will you stay together
There's a good chance

Will you drift apart
Did you marry too fast
Were you really in love
Will the marriage last

Will you cheat on your spouse
Will you want to flee
Though you have children
Do you want to be free

Will you seek adventure
Will you drift apart
Will you change your gender
For a new life to start

Will you weather the storm
When times are tough
Or will you just say
You've had enough

Will it be a marriage
That lasts many years
Or for a brief time
That soon ends in tears

Patriotic Songs

The Star spangled banner
A song that’s sung so many times
The words by now you know
But there are many other songs
So I’ve listed them below

America the beautiful
Oh beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesty
Above the fruited plain
America, America, God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea

God bless America
God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above
From the mountains, to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home

My country tis of thee
My country tis of thee
Sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing
Land where my fathers died
Land of the pilgrim’s pride
From every mountain side
Let freedom ring

This land is your land
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York island
From the Redwood Forest
To the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

This is my country
This is my country, land of my birth
This is my country, grandest on earth
I pledge thee my allegiance
America the bold
For this is my country
To have and to hold

Proud to be an American
And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up, next to you
And defend her still today
Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

Some People

Some people are nice
Some people are mean
Some are dirty
Some are clean

Some people are short
Some people are tall
Some are big
Some are small

Some people are white
Some people are brown
Some always smile
Some always frown

Some live in the cold
Some live in the heat
Some live in a house
Some live on the street

Some people have money
Some people are poor
Some sleep in a bed
Some sleep on the floor

Some people will help
Some people will harm
Some lost a lost a leg
Some lost an arm

Some people are bald
Some people have hair
Some are generous
Some don’t share

Some have a child
Some have a brother
Some have a sister
Some have no mother

Some people are old
Some people are young
Some speak kindly
Some with a sharp tongue

Some only laugh
Some only cry
Some don’t care
Some always try

Some friends aren't meant to be

Some friends aren't meant to be
You have to let them go
They always hurt your feelings
Respect they never show

A friend should not be told
Something confidential
Because you never know
They can become judgmental

A friend who is offensive
And won't apologize
You cannot reason with them
To reach a compromise

A dog can be your friend
They love to hear you talk
Waiting for those words
"How about a little walk"

Be your own best friend
Then no one can deceive
No one can betray you
And that you can believe

Volunteers

Volunteers are priceless
They’re needed everyday
Donating their time
Without asking for pay

Coaching kid’s sports
And scouting troops
Plus countless civic
And social groups

Because of their efforts
And money they raise
For churches, museums
Deserving our praise

There's so many places
That can use helpers
At food pantries
And animal shelters

With meals on wheels
Or as your tour guide
Great services
You would be denied

Those smiles they bring
To so many faces
With hospital visits
And classroom places

And volunteering
Will help fill their day
When they are retired
And don’t need the pay

They put out fires
These brave volunteers
Whenever they're needed
Without any fears
