The one that got away

 The one that got away

I was swimming around
In search of a fish
I’d swallow it whole
No need for a dish

Then all of the sudden
So close to me
Was a tasty treat
Dangling in the sea

It was not a real fish
It was actually bait
With a long sharp hook
Unaware of my fate

With a hook in my mouth
I was in lots of pain
But I thrashed around
No time to complain

I was pulled and lifted
Out of the sea
My hook was removed
By a boy who was three

But then I was dropped
Back into the sea
By this same little boy
Cause I’m real slippery

My mouth is still sore
From that piercing hook
So next time I eat
I will carefully look
