Why do you want to live

You’re behind bars
Confined to death row
For heinous crimes
They won’t let you go

A cell that’s too small
A commode and a sink
Once a week showers
Soon after you’ll stink

Time’s running out
No more appeals
Years spent in jail
Eating horrible meals

You still want to live
I don't know why
You killed someone
But are scared to die

You fought in a war
And lost your leg
Don’t amputate
They heard you beg

A hero they say
Now missing a limb
He's not giving up
He says life's not grim

The Nazi’s took power
In World War 2
What a terrible time
To be a Jew

Beaten and starved
Sent to be gassed
Some of the strong
Were able to last

Families scattered
Most of them died
Some of the lucky
Were able to hide

Those who survived
Did not want to die
To tell their story
They say that’s why

A middle-aged lady
Fighting depression
Does not want to live
It’s her confession

Not able to function
As she had in the past
No friends will call her
She's now an outcast

Nice Jewish Girl

A nice Jewish girl
When I was young
Many Jewish girls
I once was among

When Chanukah came
There’d be no tree
And just a menorah
With candles to see

One or two presents
I would receive
Not one for each night
As some may believe

As I got older
I asked for a tree
And lights on the house
But that wouldn’t be

Exchanging presents
With a non Jewish friend
Enjoying the season
That quickly would end

Christmas carols
Were sung at school
Some schools won’t allow
It’s now the new rule

A gentile boy
I could never date
A Jewish boy
Had to be my mate

It wasn’t until
My much later years
I learned of the Nazis
And had many fears

I learned about Hitler
And what he had done
Killing six million Jews
Most couldn’t outrun

Ann Frank’s diary
Made me upset
Her family in hiding
Being found was a threat

I’m a grown woman
But reluctant to tell
People I’m Jewish
We’re not liked too well

In the suburbs of Houston
It’s been hard to find
Friends that are Jewish
Though I don’t mind

My neighbor is Jewish
How lucky to meet
One Jewish family
On the same street

Suicide bombings
The Arabs will choose
They don’t value life
Plus they hate the Jews

Our President says
There’s a good rapport
With the Israelis
Who he won’t ignore

Tiger Woods has fallen down

Adapted from: “London Bridge is Falling Down” (Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme)

Tiger Woods has fallen down
Fallen down, fallen down
Tiger Woods has fallen down
The golfer who’s renown

A lady said she had an affair
Had an affair, had an affair
A lady said she had an affair
With Tiger, should we care

Things like this are nothing new
Nothing new, nothing new
Things like this are nothing new
Will his wife now say adieu

Tiger Woods should mend his ways
Mend his ways, mend his ways
Tiger Woods should mend his ways
Otherwise big bucks he pays

Tiger Woods they’ll build you up
Build you up, build you up
Tiger Woods they’ll build you up
So you can win another cup

New Years Resolutions

I can hardly believe
It’s two thousand and ten
And new resolutions
I’ve made again

Losing weight
Is priority one
Giving up sweets
I’ve now begun

Getting in shape
Is priority two
A leisurely walk
I know I can do

Spend less money
Cook my own meals
No eating out
With coupon deals

These resolutions
I make every year
I say to myself
So no one can hear

Taste Test

Steak and chicken
And even an egg
Whatever I’m eating
My dog will beg

A steak that's burnt
Or one that's rare
It makes no difference
My dog doesn’t care

Bagels are chewy
And not eaten quick
Plus my dog licks
The ice cream stick

To bribe my dog
I’ll give her a treat
But never chocolate
Or anything sweet

Less crumbs to sweep
My dog cleans the floor
When begging for food
She’s hard to ignore

She has her own food
But loves tasting mine
She’ll eat her own food
After I dine

David Letterman, the joke's on you

David Letterman
What’s so funny
Embarrassing people
For lots of money

Making a joke
Out of men who stray
And the wives
They did betray

You got many laughs
And had lots of fun
Your audience knew
What had been done

And then one day
The jokes on you
Your indiscretions
Nobody knew

Your ratings increased
You had to share
Your personal life
Was on the air

Hillary Clinton
Hid her shame
A politician
She became

Mr. Letterman
What do you say
Hillary Clinton
Had gotten her way

Women's group blasts Letterman over sexual affairs with staff

CBS producer accused in extortion plot against talk-show host
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The National Organization for Women has sharply criticized comedian David Letterman, accusing him of promoting a hostile, uncomfortable work environment.

David Letterman's behavior with employees has created "a toxic environment" in the workplace, NOW says.
"The latest Letterman controversy sheds new light on the widespread objectification of women in the workplace," NOW said in a statement Tuesday. "Most women can attest to the fact that many workplaces are plagued with inappropriate behavior by men in power."
The "Late Show With David Letterman" host admitted last week on his CBS program that he had sex with unnamed employees and had testified about those liaisons before a New York grand jury as part of an alleged extortion attempt.
A CBS producer, Robert "Joe" Halderman, is accused of threatening to go public with embarrassing information about Letterman's private life unless the 62-year-old funnyman ponied up $2 million. Watch NOW's president slam Letteman, CBS »
Letterman made a public apology Monday to his wife, Regina Lasko, who, he said, had been "horribly hurt by my behavior." He said he is trying to repair that relationship.
"Either you're going to make some progress and get it fixed, or you're going to fall short and perhaps not get it fixed, so let me tell you folks, I got my work cut out for me," Letterman told the audience Monday night.
Letterman married Lasko in March, and they have a 5-year-old son together. All the affairs took place before the marriage, Letterman's production company has said.

Letterman says he faced extortion over sexual affairs
One of the women who engaged in a sexual relationship with Letterman was identified as Stephanie Birkitt, an assistant to the talk show host and also a former live-in girlfriend of Halderman.
Letterman spokesman Tom Keaney said that Birkitt is on a paid leave of absence from the show.
NOW said Letterman's behavior was inappropriate in the workplace, saying all employees should be respected for their talent and skills.
"Recent developments in the David Letterman extortion controversy have raised serious issues about the abuse of power leading to an inappropriate, if not hostile, workplace environment for women and employees," NOW said in Tuesday's statement.
Men such as Letterman make decisions on hiring and firing, who gets raises, who advances and who does entry-level tasks, NOW said.
"As 'the boss,' he is responsible for setting the tone for his entire workplace -- and he did that with sex. In any work environment, this places all employees -- including employees who happen to be women -- in an awkward, confusing and demoralizing situation," the group said.
"The National Organization for Women calls on CBS to recognize that Letterman's behavior creates a toxic environment and to take action immediately to rectify this situation. With just two women on CBS' board of directors, we're not holding our breath."

Poachers

Definition: poacher: One who hunts or fishes illegally on the property of another.

For elephant tusks
These poachers kill
They do it for money
Any maybe the thrill

These giant beasts
Are in harms way
Wherever the poachers
Decide to prey

But what about those
Who kill for no reason
He went to Fort Hood
And did commit treason

A Muslim doctor
Who got his degree
Paid by the Army
He wanted to flee

Assigned to Iraq
He'd soon be deployed
Telling the Army
He was annoyed

Killing his comrades
Now they suspect
Iraqi soldiers
He would protect

Fort Hood Massacre Sends Wake-Up Call to the Nation
Michael Bell
Issue date: 11/12/09 Page 1 of 1
The recent Fort Hood Massacre is the latest "black-eye" to the Obama presidency. This is the first time in history that American soldiers were attacked and killed at a United States military base. The most shocking piece of the puzzle is that the killer was an American soldier. Major Nidal Malik Hasan took the lives of 12 soldiers and wounded 31 men and women. Reports have indicated that Hasan was against the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hasan, a Muslim, reportedly shouted "God is great," in Arabic and then proceeded to open fire on his fellow soldiers. How could this horrific tragedy, executed by an American soldier, happen on American soil? With the increased amount of intelligence and surveillance tactics, implemented under the Bush administration, one would believe that this episode could have been avoided. Surely someone knew of and reported Hasan's discontent and unwillingness to be deployed to the Middle East. Surely someone noticed the warning signs of a man on the brink of total insanity. This leads to the question of why. Why would Major Hasan fear deployment to the Middle East? His ethnicity and faith would have made him a target of retaliation from the rebels in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Islamic militants would have viewed Hasan as a traitor to Allah. Likewise, Hasan's faith would have played a factor in his ability to carrying out his duties to the American military. Many soldiers may have found it difficult to trust him in the line of fire. The Fort Hood Massacre opens of the door to discussion, debate, and deliberation as to the mental stability of our American troops. Our troops are constantly fighting for their lives in foreign lands. They should not have to fight for survival at a "secure" base in Texas. This tragedy is a slap in the face to the American military and a blemish on the Obama report card. What a way to mark the one year anniversary of the President's election. However, the question remains - "What are we fighting for?"
