Little baby you're not aware

Asleep in mommy’s belly
How could you be aware
That you’re a wanted baby
The answer to a prayer

Most mothers eat real healthy
And wouldn’t smoke or drink
But those who harm their baby
Don’t care what people think

And what about those young girls
Who get pregnant the first time
When there are married couples
Not conceiving in their prime

Eventually these babies
Will be making their debut
Some parents know the sex
Some parents never knew

Perhaps the little baby
Is born to someone wealthy
Of course it’s just important
For the baby to be healthy

A crack addicted infant
Whose mother is unfit
She says sworn off dope
But knows she can’t commit

And what about those babies
Whose mothers will confirm
They do not have a father
He just donated sperm

Beginning in a test tube
Not carried by its mother
The money she’ll get paid
She just may have another

Unmarried teenage girls
Are no longer sent away
Because there is no stigma
Or adopting if you’re gay

You precious little boy or girl
Your sex she does not care
A new addition to her life
Much love she has to share

Don't abandon your dog

You called my name
To go for a ride
And so I sat
Right by your side

And after a while
You stopped the car
I didn’t know where
We must have gone far

You let me out
But you didn’t stay
You left me alone
Now I was a stray

Without any food
How could I survive
Didn’t you care
When taking this drive

For years I had been
Your loyal friend
Plus your home
I’d always defend

It might have been better
To go to the pound
With other dogs
That had been found

You left me alone
Near a trailer park
Where I wandered
Alone in the dark

No comfy place
For me to lie
I’m here alone
And wondering why

A friendly dog
I was your pet
A healthy dog
Avoiding the vet

The trailer folks
Were very kind
Their table scraps
I didn’t mind

One day in the rain
And chilly weather
Another stray came
And we stayed together

Your loveable dog
But you were unkind
Abandoning me
Were you out of your mind

Misplacing something

I hate when I misplace
Something that I had
I often blame my spouse
It makes me very mad

It may be something big
It may be something small
Where could it have gone
I try hard to recall

I’m usually quite lucky
And don’t lose many things
In fact I’ve never lost
My pretty diamond rings

My house is very big
I'll put things everywhere
Something I once needed
And now I just don’t care

I'll try hard not to lose it
I need to keep my mind
One day I really had it
Some days I cannot find

Daughter with depression

If I had a daughter with depression
Who almost took her life
Swallowing bottles of pills
She was more than someone’s wife

She had worked and raised a family
She would cook and clean and shop
She did so much laundry
There was little time to stop

I didn’t know she was suffering
I didn’t know she was depressed
Did I do something wrong
If I did, I would confess

If I had a daughter with depression
I’d know just what to do
Because I suffer from depression
I’d know what she’s going through

I paid my dues

I did what they said
So I could fit in
I went and got married
I didn’t live in sin

Of course I had children
Just two and not three
So now they‘re added
To my family tree

Money was tight
I needed to work
I had horrible jobs
That made me berserk

Too much pressure
As a mother and a wife
Plus having to work
Was a stressful life

Weeks became months
Months became years
When the children left
I couldn’t stop the tears

Not enough time
I could hardly find
To spend with my kids
When looking behind

I paid my dues
I did what they said
A major depression
I had instead

Stand by your man

President Clinton’s
Affair was well known
Promising Hillary
He would atone

Governor Spitzer
With his wife by his side
This former Governor
Proved he had no pride

An upstanding man
They often said
Till the governor
Took a hooker to bed

Senator Edwards
Though he could lie
About an affair
He tried to deny

A candidate
For the presidency
His wife let him stay
Did he have to plea

Hillary Clinton
The Secretary of State
She stood by her man
Now this is her fate

The Gentlemen's Club

A Gentlemen’s Club
A billboard sign
To entertain men
They think its fine

Approaching the men
In just a thong
A skimpy place
Where tips belong

Some clubs advertise
A free buffet
Hoping they’ll get
The men to stay

Calling their wives
And saying they’re late
They’ll eat at work
No need to wait

A Gentlemen’s Club
I never have been
One day I may get
The nerve to go in
