A displaced Yankee
Is what you are
You moved to the South
Years ago, by car
You haven’t adapted
To their ways
Your same attitude
With you stays
You say what you think
You are direct
It bothers people
It has an affect
You’re not a phony
You may attack
You don’t act sweet
Then stab in the back
You don’t belong here
You’re out of place
You search for friends
Who you can embrace
To where you once lived
You can never return
Not enough money
Did you ever earn
You need to keep searching
Until you find
People like you
With the same frame of mind

The world is flat
The world is flat
According to me
As I stand by the shore
Looking out at the sea
Straight ahead
There’s nothing to see
Only the ocean
Stares back at me
The world is round
They told me in school
I can’t say it’s flat
Or I’d be a fool
What’s underneath
This world that is round
If I ever go there
Will I come back around
Why can’t I question
What I’ve been told
Because I am young
And you are old
I’ll buy a big boat
The ocean I’ll sail
And see for myself
If you’re telling a tale

Tee-shirts
Souvenir tee-shirts
People must buy
Many will have
A big supply
They come in all sizes
From large to small
And for the babies
Learning to crawl
Wear the tee-shirt
Of your favorite team
Tee-shirts will have
Some type of theme
A tee-shirt from
Your favorite place
A tee-shirt with
A happy face
Tee-shirts to choose
Offensive or funny
And they don’t cost
A whole lot of money
Tee-shirts are sold
At beach resorts
With an endless supply
They have all sorts
Wet tee-shirt contests
While on spring break
Fools of themselves
These girls will make
That old tee-shirt
You've desired
It’s falling apart
And should be retired

Euthanasia
Euthanasia
The right to die
When terminally ill
They will deny
Opponents will ask
Who should die
If this is allowed
Who could apply
A quadriplegic
An amputee
To help them die
Who would agree
Lou Gehrig’s disease
A slow painful death
You can not move
You’ll lose your breath
Maiming our youth
In wars each day
The old and sick
Must live this way
Compassionate death
You won’t feel a thing
Eternal rest
This method will bring

Living the dream
Living the dream
You may pay the price
Perhaps a spouse
Doesn’t act nice
Sandra Bullock
Still lives the dream
With a louse for a spouse
She reigns supreme
Tiger Woods
His scandal revealed
Still living the dream
Saying he’s healed
Fame and fortune
May only be brief
Living the dream
While being a thief
A motor home
A house on the beach
Living the dream
Is different for each
Living the dream
A college graduation
The first in their family
A great celebration
Living the dream
Can often be bleak
From paycheck to paycheck
You live each week

Send in the clowns
Under the big top
The show will begin
With circus clowns
Who frown and grin
Applying their makeup
They had to learn
Laughs from the crowd
They'll always earn
These circus clowns
Perform in the show
Not on the trapeze
They stay down below
Life on the road
To make people laugh
That’s why they chose
This career path
Look at the clowns
In the bull ring
What makes them do
This dangerous thing
Protecting cowboys
While facing danger
These clowns will help
A total stranger
Bucking bulls
The coyboys will ride
With rodeo clowns
Right by their side

Teddy Bears
When Goldie Lox entered
The home of three bears
She tasted their porridge
And sat on their chairs
The bears were out walking
When Goldie arrived
If they had been home
Would she have survived
Baby bear found her
Asleep on his bed
Goldie awakened
Then quickly she fled
No hanging around
No saying hello
Frightened of bears
She just had to go
On a bear hunting trip
Teddy Roosevelt went
Many years ago
Our past President
This President killed
Not a single bear
And his hunting friends
Were all well aware
A bear cub was clubbed
And tied it to a tree
Teddy wouldn’t shoot it
Unfair it would be
Cartoons of this bear cub
Soon led to a toy
A “Teddy’s Bear”
For a young girl or a boy
We love Teddy Bears
They’re made big or small
In all different colors
And they’ll never claw
A bear in the wild
Is an unfriendly beast
Stay away from these bears
Or you'll be their feast
