Teddy Bears

When Goldie Lox entered
The home of three bears
She tasted their porridge
And sat on their chairs

The bears were out walking
When Goldie arrived
If they had been home
Would she have survived

Baby bear found her
Asleep on his bed
Goldie awakened
Then quickly she fled

No hanging around
No saying hello
Frightened of bears
She just had to go

On a bear hunting trip
Teddy Roosevelt went
Many years ago
Our past President

This President killed
Not a single bear
And his hunting friends
Were all well aware

A bear cub was clubbed
And tied it to a tree
Teddy wouldn’t shoot it
Unfair it would be

Cartoons of this bear cub
Soon led to a toy
A “Teddy’s Bear”
For a young girl or a boy

We love Teddy Bears
They’re made big or small
In all different colors
And they’ll never claw

A bear in the wild
Is an unfriendly beast
Stay away from these bears
Or you'll be their feast

Your Cheatin' Heart

Lyrics by, Hank Williams Sr. (1953)

Your cheatin' heart
Will tell on you
These cheating songs
Are more than a few

Don’t copy the answer
From someone’s test
So you can cheat
And do your best

Don’t find a way
To cheat in a game
Because your name
They will defame

Most of these cheaters
Won’t ever get caught
But those who have
Were they not taught

Entertainment for adults

To be entertained
Is what we seek
Especially during
The end of the week

Eat a good meal
A nice juicy steak
And for dessert
Have a slice of cake

Go to the movies
Watch a new flick
Read the reviews
Before you pick

But after a while
This may be a bore
Dinner and movies
We’d like to do more

Las Vegas casinos
So many they’ve built
Taking your money
They have no guilt

Not only Las Vegas
But near where you live
There are casinos
For money to give

Some people don’t care
How much they lose
Its entertainment
It’s what they choose

I’m not entertained
By the roulette wheel
And slot machines
My money they’ll steal

You have nothing to lose

You have nothing to lose
Your people are poor
Recruiting young boys
Who are easy to lure

You have nothing to lose
You don’t value life
You’ll die for a cause
Leaving children and wife

You have nothing to lose
Your terrorists came
Destroying our buildings
Was truly insane

We have lots to lose
We don’t want to die
Or kill innocent people
Not knowing why

We have lots to lose
With hopes and dreams
Not sitting around
Plotting wicked schemes

You will never win
We’ll continue to fight
For as long as it takes
And with all of our might

Beautiful Women

Beautiful women
With golden tresses
Singing their songs
While in tight dresses

To sing country music
The blondes do rule
A pretty blonde singer
Her name is Jewel

Lady Gaga Gaga
Had bleached her hair
Her high school photos
Makes us aware

Hannah Montana
Wore a blonde wig
Now Miley Cyrus
Is doing this gig

Removing the wig
And tossing aside
Brown hair Miley
Is known worldwide

In cowboy hats
Men hide their hair
If grey or bald
No one will care

Some never remove
Their cowboy hat
They don’t look any
Better than that

Blonde country singers
Who’ve come along
Were given a chance
To sing us a song

The telephone

When I was a just little girl
The telephone I used
It had a rotary dial
But I never got confused

The phone was big and heavy
And mounted to the wall
Plus no one ever owned it
That wasn’t done at all

As I was growing up
The phone did change a bit
A modern Princess phone
With a center dial that lit

Newer phones had buttons
You only had to touch
This made calling easier
We liked it very much

Phones could now be purchased
Your phone you wouldn't rent
The phones bought years ago
In the garbage they were sent

A telephone separation
No long cords did you need
That's because the cordless phone
To everywhere it could lead

Phones became programmable
Just enter the name and see
The person you want to call
Plus, there's also caller ID

Voice mail was a new feature
The answering machine is gone
But when I call a place for help
Their questions are a mile long

The pager you once carried
Would alert you to a call
But when the cell phone came
They were hardly used at all

The cell phone's very useful
Just text, no need to talk
You can even facetime
Don't drive, don't even walk

The phone is also used
For solicitors to call
Unless the person knows you
They won't answer it at all

An aging rock star

I’m the lead singer
Who’s still in demand
With two musicians
From my first band

I’m in my sixties
And still have my voice
Hitting the high notes
I have no choice

A sell out crowd
Of every age
I hear them screaming
While I'm on stage

In the earlier years
Of our rock n’ roll band
Our wild behavior
Would get out of hand

But when I got older
I settled down
No drinking or drugs
Or fooling around

I raised a family
And they were aware
Their famous dad
With fans they’d share

And now my grandson
Has started a band
He wants to be famous
It's what he's planned

He used my name
To launch his career
He doesn't use drugs
He only drinks beer

A new generation
A grandson admired
The talent he has
From me he acquired
