Multiple Wives

Multiple wives
I don’t understand
A lot of attention
They must command

Two or more women
Beneath one roof
Do they all get along
I must have proof

You have lots of children
But plan to have more
A major expense
Not meant for the poor

With so many women
To pick and choose
What happens to those
He'll begin to refuse

RV Blessings

For my 2 RV Clubs:
The Texas Boomers &
Camping Friends

Let’s give thanks for RV’s
And the friendships we make
When we travel with our club
To be near a scenic lake

Let’s give thanks for the food
That we eagerly share
And no need to worry
There’s plenty to spare

Let us pray that our tires
Will never wear out
And those rude drivers
Won't cause us to shout

Let us pray for the safety
And health of each friend
So no one’s journey
Will come to an end

Hey, good lookin', what you got cookin'

(Words & music by Hank Williams)

Hey good lookin’
What you got cookin’
You always make me hungry
Whenever I start lookin’

On every major channel
And every single day
Your meals are so enticing
I can not look away

I’ve never tried your recipes
My cooking is quite plain
And when you eat in front of me
I feel I should complain

I'll never try to cook the meals
You demo on the news
But if I get the chance to taste
I know I won't refuse

I don't have the ingredients
To make your kind of meal
I'd rather grab a bite to eat
To me that's just ideal

Happy Birthday to You

Happy birthday to you
I really don’t care
While I’m dining out
There’s no need to share

The staff has to sing you
A birthday song
But keep this in mind
I won’t sing along

Singing and singing
There’s no end in sight
Too many birthdays
While I dine tonight

A big sombrero
You might have to wear
And foolish you’ll look
But you won’t care

You say it’s your birthday
And you’re not a fake
Who just wants to eat
A free piece of cake

(Note: in the olden days, restaurants
would give you free cake and/or
ice cream on your birthday)

Get off my lawn

Dandelions
Are on my lawn
Get rid of them now
They must be gone

Why do we hate them
They do add color
Small yellow petals
On stalks getting taller

We’ll mow them down
But overnight
They’ll shoot right up
In broad daylight

They should be killed
Because they’re a weed
All over our lawn
Spreading their seeds

But if they’re not killed
They will go away
When the weather gets hot
They’ll be out of our way

(Note: Dandelions were
on my lawn in upstate
New York but not in Texas)

A Fallen Hero

In Memory of the Huntwick Serviceman
Scott Alexander McIntosh, Houston, TX
Killed in Iraq by a suicide bomber
Mar. 10, 2008

You were brave
You chose to serve
It took guts
It took nerve

Off to Iraq
You went to fight
Many will say
This war’s not right

A second tour
You chose to do
Because this war
Is still not through

A fallen hero
A solider that fought
To keep us safe
Is what you sought

Because your life
Forever did cease
It’s time for you
To rest in peace

One if by land, two if by sea

Ancient sailors
You really admire
To sail the ocean
Was your desire

Two on-board
Husband and wife
A journey unknown
Risking your life

You must have sailed
On very rough seas
But got to enjoy
A tropical breeze

On Ellis Island
Your boat would land
Where immigrants
Use to stand

Another journey
On land not sea
Route 66
Is where you’ll be

Your motor home
Is very small
In order to stand
You can’t be tall

Many adventures
In future years
You both retired
From good careers

Written on my first cross-country trip in our travel trailer
where I met this older couple at an RV park who actually
sailed across the ocean in a small sail boat from Scotland to
the U.S. and were about to begin driving along Route 66.

Trust for children

You should hold me in your arms
Whenever I cry
And change my diaper
When it’s not dry

You should feed me when I’m hungry
And take me to the park
Keep me warm and safe
When it's cold and dark

You should treat me with kindness
But you can be stern
Punish me when needed
To show your concern

You should know that I trust you
But this trust won’t last long
If you choose to neglect me
Then you’ve done something wrong

Walking to Jesus

Pastor Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church,
formerly the Compaq Center, where the
World Champion Houston Rockets played.

I go to church on Sunday
Because I need to pray
The parking lot is always full
But I won’t stay away

The church that I’m attending
You'll see all sorts of people
A great big Baptist church
A church without a steeple

This church was once a stadium
With rows and rows of chairs
It then became a mega church
Where you can say your prayers

Walking past the cars and trucks
I’m on my way to pray
No matter what the weather’s like
I wouldn’t miss this day

You tried to fool us

March 10, 2008 it was reported that Governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer has been linked to a prostitution ring using call-girls from a very upscale agency. Gov. Spitzer had previously broken up at least two prostitution rings in New York resulting in numerous arrests. This certainly makes him a hypocrite.

We’ve just been fooled again
His speech was loud and clear
And with his lovely wife
Is how he did appear

He said that he was sorry
He knows that he did wrong
And with that sort of girl
He knew he didn’t belong

Now everyone is shocked
The image he projected
Was someone with integrity
That’s how he got elected

So add him to the list
Of those who have deceived
We thought he was a decent man
This man who we believed

Beware those politicians
Ignore what they are saying
They merely want to fool you
It’s just a game they’re playing

Texas Limericks

In Texas, the Lone Star State
I’ll find me another mate
Cause all my exes
Came from Texas
A Yankee I'd rather date

The Houston Rodeo
Come on ya’ll let’s go
The winning steer
We can’t get near
But let’s not miss the show

Summers in Texas are hot
Therefore I sweat a lot
To keep myself cool
I’ll swim in my pool
A Shiner will hit the spot

You take one step then two
It’s not very hard to do
This two step dance
Just give it a chance
Go out and make your debut

Green

Kermit the frog
A little green puppet
On Sesame Street
He’s called a Muppet

Green with envy
Makes you mean
Don’t eat bananas
While they’re green

For greener grass
Water your lawn
And fertilize
So weeds are gone

Little green apples
Are tart, not sweet
When bread turns green
It’s no good to eat

The Jolly Green Giant
Have no fear
Carrying green beans
Is how he’ll appear

To live a green life
Recycle your cans
For greener pastures
What are your plans

Be sure to wear green
On St. Patrick’s Day
And say a prayer
For the Green Beret

Boys will be boys

Girls look for the taller men
They’ll even wear flat shoes
But boys don’t need to worry
The short girl they can choose

Boys prefer the younger girls
To be their trophy wife
But younger boys a girl can’t choose
Their rarely in her life

Boys can go to certain clubs
Where women will undress
While girls stay home with children
They often earn much less

Girls don’t ask a boy to dance
Or call them for a date
And when will her propose to her
A girl still has to wait

Boys will be boys it's often said
Their standards aren’t the same
When girls decide to act like boys
They may encounter shame
