Stage fright

I have to say
I truly admire
Public speakers
Who try to inspire

Millions will listen
To what they say
The politicians
And while they pray

Speeches and sermons
Can last for an hour
But your attention
They will devour

When singing on stage
They do so with ease
I’ve never seen anyone
Cough or sneeze

A field that’s a stage
On which athletes play
A bundle of nerves
They never display

And they're not afraid
Taking center stage
Defending someone
If paid a good wage

The clergymen
And the musicians
Do not fear the stage
Nor do politicians

I won’t sing or dance
Or give a speech
I'll let somebody else
Stand up and preach
