The Corona Virus (Covid 19)- 2020 Pandemic

A strong economy

Until this crisis came

COVID-19

Now nothing’s the same

Beginning in China

Then spreading world-wide

And in our country
Too many have died

So we were told

To shelter in place

For several weeks

Don’t show your face

A rush to the stores

During this quarantine

The shelves are bare

Sanitizer's aren't seen

Schools are closed

Children are bored

Toilet paper

People will horde

Our country's shut down

No one's traveling

High unemployment

Much suffering

Social isolation

Is now the new norm

No shaking hands

We all must conform

I did what was expected

I went along with everything

I did what was expected

Though when I am alone

I feel I’ve been rejected

 

I wasn’t smart enough

At Penn State to succeed

Just wanted to have fun

A flunk out guaranteed

 

I married very young

Was very immature

Gave birth to 2 grown sons

With me they'd soon ignore

 

Suffering from depression

A battle hard to fight

Had suicide attempts

But then I chose to write

 

I loved it in the past

When ideas often came

Published in a newsletter

I had a bit of fame

 

In psychiatric hospitals

I’ve been to in years past

It causes me embarrassment

It’s nothing to broadcast

 

               My husband’s very helpful

               He loves me very much

                 I couldn’t live without him

               Although we hardly touch

 

Despite my major surgeries

I’ve tried to stay in shape

           But fear about the future

There is no great escape

Will I fight for my country

I'm a newborn baby, born into a world unknown.... 

Am I black or white? 
Is my family rich or poor?  
Do I have a mother and father?

Do I live in a nice home?  

I will know nothing until many years later.  
About slavery, the Holocaust,  

the wars that were fought for our freedom. 

I did not ask to be born.  Was I planned?
  

Will I join the service and fight for my country?  

Will there be no more wars?

Seagulls are annoying

You think we’re annoying

We’re flying around

Looking for food

That fell on the ground

The clams you’re eating

They're ours to eat

So we think it's fair

That we take your treat

When seeing your food

And not to miss out

Our friends will arrive

You’ll scream and shout

No popcorn or peanuts

We’ll have to survive

During long winter months

Until you arrive

Whale watching

From our sightseeing boat

We saw Silla the whale

And everyone cheered

When we saw her tail

An older whale

Almost 40 years old

Silla’s 14^th baby

Is with her we’re told

Swimming together

For only a year

When baby matures

It will disappear

A whale is a mammal

Though it lives in the sea

It needs to breathe

Just like you and me

Don't get close to the whales

If you're in a small boat

Whales can tip you over

Then you'll have to float

Lobster Tales

How did you find me

I’m crawling around

Beneath the sea

Hard to be found

I washed ashore

After a storm

That’s where you saw me

It isn’t the norm

You thought I looked tasty

You needed to eat

Although I looked scary

I would be a treat

With cages to trap us

It’s now a delight

To cook us and eat us

With family at night

And many years later

A delicacy

As precious as gold

When were’ not in the sea
