 Seedless watermelon

What a waste

Whenever I eat it

It has no taste

When it has seeds

It really has flavor

A cold sweet fruit

To really savor

Who authorized this

To grow without seeds

No spitting or swallowing

They thought no one needs

A choking hazard

Could this be the reason

No watermelon seeds

In the summer season

A watermelon salad

So easy to make

To give it more flaver

To your home I’ll take

Lobster Tales

How did you find me
I’m crawling around
Beneath the sea
Hard to be found

I washed ashore
After a storm
That’s where you saw me
It isn’t the norm

You thought I looked tasty
You needed to eat
Although I looked scary
I would be a treat

With cages to trap us
It’s now a delight
To cook us and eat us
With family at night

And many years later
A delicacy
As precious as gold
When were’ not in the sea

Salt and Pepper

The recipe calls
For salt and pepper
Because they always
Go together

Salt is white
Pepper is black
Without this combo
Flavor it lacks

In every kitchen
You’ll always find
Salt and pepper
To use combined

On restaurant tables
You’ll always see
Salt and pepper
But use sparingly

Black or white
It doesn’t matter
But don’t put pepper
In your cake batter

Oreo Cookies - celebrating 100 years

Oreo sandwich cookies
You're now 100 years old
You haven't aged a bit
From when you first were sold

I ate you for so many years
And in my milk I'd dunk
If I dropped you in my glass
My milk would still get drunk

Sometimes I'd separate you
Your icing I'd eat first
And after eating many of you
Milk would quench my thirst

I haven't bought you for a while
Because I've gained some weight
But I miss my Oreo cookies
As a snack when I'm up late

We now have several choices
Double stuffed plus different icing
And wafers that are vanilla
Chocolate covered how enticing

Oreo sandwich cookies
I get hungry when I say your name
I think I'll buy a package
I know you'll still taste the same

Three desserts - Star Princess, Horizon Grill

Three desserts
Are on my plate
I'll eat them all
Aware of my fate

Three little pieces
Of cake and pie
I'll take for dessert
I must tell you why

I cannot resist
So many choices
Take me, take me
I hear their voices

I've already paid
For this buffet
So three desserts
Will be on my tray

The walking I do
Will not justify
That chocolate cake
That piece of pie

I won't even think
About gaining weight
On this cruise I'll put
Three desserts on my plate

Tea for two

Tea for two

And two for tea

Two to tango

You and me

Two hands they say

Are better than one

A table for two

A pair has more fun

Two eyes, two ears

One mouth, one nose

Two arms and legs

Ten fingers and toes

Two sides to a story

That's very true

A set of twins

An now they're through

Whataburger

Hamburger patties
Are easy to make
They don’t cost much
This chopped up steak

Eat them rare
Or eat them well done
And put them on
A freshly baked bun

Fast food restaurants
Will make burgers quick
And you can decide
Which burger to pick

They’re easy to eat
When you’re in a hurry
But are they healthy
Many will worry

Hamburger restaurants
They all specialize
Add what you want
Eat them with fries

You may pay a lot
For a hamburger meal
At a fast food place
Get a meal deal

We love eating burgers
Billions are sold
To eat when we’re young
To eat when we’re old

Hot dogs and high rises

Hot dog carts
Next to a high-rise
Serving you hot dogs
They don’t serve fries

Eating a hot dog
While on the run
A great tasting hot dog
Served on a bun

But why would you want
To eat on the street
Instead of a restaurant
While resting your feet

Those who are hungry
And want a quick meal
Hot dog carts
Are simply ideal

The end of chocolate

Much less chocolate
They now predict
The future is bleak
For a chocolate addict

Near the equator
This special tree grows
Yielding its crop
Then away it goes

It’s hard to imagine
No chocolate to eat
Without a dessert
No meal is complete

It raises endorphins
This comfort food sweet
You won’t feel as good
When you’re eating meat

In the next twenty years
When it costs a lot more
You’ll find candy bars
Locked up in the store

At least there’s vanilla
Cake and ice cream
And eating chocolate
Will just be a dream

By, Randee Saber 11/9/10

The Cocoa Research Association produced the latest round of data, but big players like Hershey and Mars have already sequenced the cocoa genome to hunt for ways to create more resilient, higher-yielding trees.
Cocoa can only be grown close to the equator, mostly in West Africa, and farmers there lack incentives to replant the trees as they die. Cocoa trees take three years to mature. Small-scale producers of the delicious stuff earn just 80 cents a day selling to the mega-corporations that control the market.
Combine that with ever-more gluttonous choco-habits and you've got a shortage. Indeed, the price of chocolate has doubled in the last six years.
Says John Mason, founder of the Ghana-based Nature Conservation Research Council: "In 20 years chocolate will be like caviar. It will become so rare and so expensive that the average Joe just won't be able to afford it."
Glenn Beck be damned: Don't buy gold bars; buy chocolate.

Femme FATale

Kristie Alley
A sitcom star
With her weight
She’s been at war

Jenny Craig’s diet
Helped her get slim
But two years later
She wasn’t trim

Butter and sugar
Plus no exercise
Put the weight on
To her surprise

Why must she try
To lose the weight
Perhaps it’s because
Fat people we hate

Christie Alley
Don’t worry honey
Eat what you want
And enjoy your money

The Last Banana

I’m a Chiquita Banana
The last one of the bunch
Hoping I’ll be eaten
Perhaps when you have lunch

When I was very green
You put me on a plate
To ripen with the others
Of the bunch you already ate

I went from green to yellow
That is, at the very same time
The others right beside me
Were eaten in their prime

Because I now have age spots
My final days are few
So put me in your cereal
I'll add flavor as you chew

I hope that you are thinking
Of something you can make
Mix me with some other fruit
Or make a banana cake

The longer that I sit here
My skin will get too brown
My insides will get mushy
I soon won’t be around

You shouldn't buy bananas
While I’m still sitting here
Worried I’ll be discarded
So now I live in fear

Pizza Delivery

In front of my car
Stopped at the light
A car with a sign
Was shining bright

The sign on the car
Was on the roof
Pizza was coming
No need for proof

A difficult job
Trying to find
So many houses
I’d lose my mind

You may have to wait
As long as an hour
Enough time to take
A nice hot shower

Why not pick up
Your own pizza pie
It won’t come late
It’s cheaper to buy

Delivering pizza
This job isn’t easy
Enjoy your pizza
That’s extra cheesy

Three wise men

Johnny Walker
Is Jack Daniels’ friend
And Jose Cuervo
They also befriend

Jose Cuervo
To make margaritas
Don’t take advantage
Of those senoritas

Jack Daniels
A Tennessee whisky
Drinking too much
Can make you frisky

Johnny Walkers’
Assorted blends
Their colored labels
Will be you friends

I'll drink Margaritas
I love the taste
But don't serve me whisky
This drink I'll waste

Squeezable contiments

Squeezable condiments
What a delight
Ketchup on fries
Is no longer a fight

Placed in a bottle
We certainly know
Tap tap the end
It helps ketchup go

In plastic containers
They found the trick
Ketchup moves faster
Yet it’s still thick

In these containers
Mayonnaise will squeeze
Dispensing its contents
With so much ease

Mustard and relish
You also can squeeze
They’re tasty on hot dogs
And burgers with cheese

Forget using knives
To dip and spread
Tilt and squeeze
To put on your bread

A life cut short

A life cut short
So we can eat
Juicy steaks
We love our meat

Out in the fields
The cows will graze
A pleasant way
To spend their days

Eating all day
They need to get big
Feeding them grain
To eat like a pig

Innocent victims
They don’t even know
Off to be slaughtered
Soon they will go

We love eating beef
A porterhouse steak
Or hamburger patties
They’re easy to make

Wait staff

They'll order their drinks
The specials today
I have to recite them
By heart each day

Three or four tables
And oftentimes more
Whoever I’m serving
I mustn't ignore

I have to be friendly
I lift heavy trays
It’s part of my job
I won’t get a raise

When taking their orders
I do so with ease
A difficult person
I’ll try hard to please

Their meat is too raw
Their soup isn’t hot
I don’t get upset
It happens a lot

More napkins they need
Their drinks I'll refill
I need to wipe up
Whatever they spill

Their table is cleared
And some want coffee
The tray of desserts
They all want to see

My table is leaving
Their bill has been paid
I’m looking to see
How much I made

In fancier restaurants
The tips will be higher
We're all working hard
And would like to retire

Huntwick - Our Retreat

Rockfish, Carrabba’s
And Taipei
As you leave Huntwick
They’re not far away

Doneraki’s
Serves you Fajitas
Even the Outback
Has Margaritas

La Madeline
Has pastry to buy
Campioni’s
Has great pizza pie

Grab a sandwich
At Jason’s Deli
Or put a Subway
In your belly

Early morning
Or late at night
Pancakes at I-Hop
Are quite a delight

Sample the flavors
At Ben and Jerry’s
Cold Stone gives you
Ice cream with cherries

Living in Huntwick
Is our retreat
With great food to eat
Just down the street

By, Randee Saber 5/15/08

As of this year 2008, I've lived in Huntiwck for 20 years.
It's a beautiful subdivision in northwest Houston that's
situated off a major road, FM 1960, however, once you
enter Huntwick, you leave all that behind. Although
Huntwick is a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, there's
many restaurants and great shopping right outside the subdivision.

Hey, good lookin', what you got cookin'

(Words & music by Hank Williams)

Hey good lookin’
What you got cookin’
You always make me hungry
Whenever I start lookin’

On every major channel
And every single day
Your meals are so enticing
I can not look away

I’ve never tried your recipes
My cooking is quite plain
And when you eat in front of me
I feel I should complain

I'll never try to cook the meals
You demo on the news
But if I get the chance to taste
I know I won't refuse

I don't have the ingredients
To make your kind of meal
I'd rather grab a bite to eat
To me that's just ideal

Happy Birthday to You

Happy birthday to you
I really don’t care
While I’m dining out
There’s no need to share

The staff has to sing you
A birthday song
But keep this in mind
I won’t sing along

Singing and singing
There’s no end in sight
Too many birthdays
While I dine tonight

A big sombrero
You might have to wear
And foolish you’ll look
But you won’t care

You say it’s your birthday
And you’re not a fake
Who just wants to eat
A free piece of cake

(Note: in the olden days, restaurants
would give you free cake and/or
ice cream on your birthday)

Donut Schools

Powered or glazed
And those that twist
Covered with chocolate
Few can resist

Topped with nuts
Or cream in between
Policemen will eat
With cups of caffeine

Donut shops
Wherever you go
Create what you like
With their dough

Donut schools
For those who bake
Powered and iced
And all they make

Many to choose
Yet seen before
These donuts are
In every store
