When the clock struck midnight
Who would ever have thought
In the year 2020
We’d have been so distraught
A virus from China
So rapidly came
The Corona Virus
Was its new name
Thousands were dying
The elderly for sure
It can kill anyone
The rich and the poor
Throughout the world
The infection spread quick
Something had to be done
So more wouldn’t get sick
Cruise ships were stranded
For weeks out at sea
A trip planned for fun
Became a misery
Towards the middle of March
Our country shut down
Because this virus
Grocery stores were open
Toilet paper disappeared
Plus, cleaning supplies
On the shelves were cleared
No weddings or graduations
Or shows to see
With crowds of people
We could not be
Masks were required
To cover our face
And plexiglass barriers
Were all over the place
Socially distance
Became a new phrase
Staying 6 feet apart
Became a new phase
Businesses would close
To order on-line
Most people now chose
Liquor stores were open
No haircuts could we get
How bad our hair looked
Just drink to forget
Parents helped children
To learn, using Zoom
While teachers taught
In a virtual classroom
Working from home
Only if you are able
Those front-line workers
True heroes are their label
No visitors allowed
Those patients died alone
Some said their goodbyes
On the telephone
A shortage of ventilators
Many more they would need
Auto manufacturers
Produced with great speed
Long lines to get tested
Long lines to get food
No gathering with friends
You are not being rude
More people getting better
And some very quick
Even President Trump
This virus he would lick
A gradual reopening
A vaccine coming soon
We’ll conquer this virus
We’ve put men on the moon
