ELVIS IMPOSTERS

Elvis imposters

Not the real thing

They’ll capture his look

His songs they will sing

As a young Elvis

Some will perform

In sequined jumpsuits

Many transform

Of rock and roll

Elvis was king

When he left the building

No more would he sing

A great performer

We’ll never stop loving

And now to Graceland

His fans keep coming

Elvis imposters

His image you share

A great entertainer

With a life in despair

A tribute to Elvis Presley

Elvis imposters

Not the real thing

They’ll capture his look

His songs they will sing

As a young Elvis

Most will perform

In sequined jumpsuits

They will transform

Of rock and roll fame

Elvis was king

The music would cause

His hips to swing

And now to Graceland

His fans come to see

The home he’d bequeath

For you and for me

Elvis imposters

His image you share

Of a great entertainer

When you are there

Now a crazy cat lady

I’m now a crazy cat lady

Who had to rescue three

Abandoned tiny kittens

Who really needed me

All came from a mama cat

But no one looked the same

With many different colors

I gave them their own name

There’s Onyx who is black

Snowflake's tan coat it became

The third one is a Tabby

And Tiger is his name

We had to bottle feed them

Their mother was long gone

It’s better to be with her

That’s where they do belong

I soon became their mother

Cared for them constantly

Within the next few months

They’re now big as they can be

My husband’s very helpful

He feeds them while I’m sleeping

And cleans the litter boxes

Because all cats we’re keeping

These kitties are explorers

In closets they will hide

But only Onyx and Snowflake

In their stroller they will ride

On my chair while I am sitting

On my lap there can be three

Purring as I pet them

I’m glad they’re here with me

Calling my doctor

  •

Too many options

For me to pick

Repeated if needed

It’s said way too quick

Too many doctors

I only need one

Though many are said

I'll wait till it’s done

Listening to music

While waiting on hold

I'm not next in line

The recording has told

Will I choose to wait

Or hang up the phone

A decision to make

While I'm sitting alone

 Seedless watermelon

What a waste

Whenever I eat it

It has no taste

When it has seeds

It really has flavor

A cold sweet fruit

To really savor

Who authorized this

To grow without seeds

No spitting or swallowing

They thought no one needs

A choking hazard

Could this be the reason

No watermelon seeds

In the summer season

A watermelon salad

So easy to make

To give it more flaver

To your home I’ll take

Wish you were still here

It seems quite unfair

That you’re already gone

Not seeing our Natan

Playing a song

Celine and Theodore

Who always make me smile

And Julia’s Bat Mitzvah

It was truly worthwhile

It’s so heartbreaking

That you’re not here

Enjoying your family

Who you’ll never be near

I think of you often

And it makes me sad

That grandkids can’t visit

Their great grandad

But it is what it is

That’s all I can say

Perhaps we’ll be reunited

In heaven one day

Freedom of Speech

Freedom of Speech

It can be very bad

When speaking of hatred

Just to make people mad

To say the Holocaust

Never occurred

Nor did a school shooting

Is truly absurd

Why are these people

Allowed to speak

And tell lies to those

Who are dumb and meek

Or to say they hate Jews

And slavery was a choice

Don’t broadcast this

With their crazy voice

Keep your thoughts to yourself

And watch what you say

Because you’ll get sued

And money you’ll pay

Card carrying members

An ID card

Identifies you

A business card

Tells what you do

Insurance cards

Your claims get paid

Credit cards

Payments delayed

Debit cards

Get money quick

For Lotto tickets

Or a quick pick

A card that’s green

Allows you to stay

And get a job

In the U.S.A.

A driver’s license

Permits you to drive

A much awaited

Day to arrive

Election Day

Show your card

Cast your ballot

It’s not very hard

The Covid vaccine

A new card we’ve gotten

The dates are listed

It shouldn’t be forgotten

A deck of cards

To wage a bet

So carry your cards

And don’t forget

Those magnificent men in their flying machines

It never ceases to amaze me

To see planes in the air

I don’t take it for grated

Though often some don’t care

A truly remarkable machine

Flying through the sky

To get you very quickly

The pilots always try

I often stare in awe

When seeing these big planes

Flying over my home

More remarkable than trains

This jet age that we live in

How lucky that we are

To get to places quickly

Unlike a bus, train or car

Men are causing all this trouble

Men are responsible

For causing all this trouble

For blowing up the cities

And leaving them in rubble

Was this a game you played

When you were a boy

Building beautiful cities

Then destroying with a toy

Men build the planes

Ships, tanks, and guns

Plus, the ammunition

Which they made tons

Men build the places

Where people reside

Now they’re destroyed

So, the people must hide

Women and children

Are told they must flee

While the men must fight

For the sake of their country

Of course, the dictators

Are the ones to blame

Wanting more countries

It’s part of their game

If women ran the world

They would easily deter

Just sending nasty emails

No fighting would occur

Let the women run the world

And take the place of men

No wars would ever happen

We’d live peacefully again

Let democracy prevail

Not all want to go

But told they must fight

To invade Ukraine

Knowing it’s not right

Conscripted in service

They have no choice

To do what is wrong

Russians have no voice

Women and children

In Ukraine must flee

While most of the men

Fight for their country

Other nations won’t help

To fight this war

When nuclear weapons

Are a threat for sure

Communist dictators

Plus, the Taliban too

Let democracy prevail

The people don't need you

TIME

In this poem, time won’t rhyme

If you can think of more, please add to mine

Once upon a time

Time to wake up

What time is it

Time to go

Give it some time

Time is of the essence

The time has come

Peacetime

It’s about time, all in due time

Take the time, make the time...to smell the roses

Time after time

Time and time again

For the sake of time, to save time

Many of time, plenty of time, most of the time

Time’s up, timeline, timeout

Nighttime, daytime

Summertime, Wintertime, Springtime

Time zones (Eastern, Central, Mountain & Pacific)

Party time, play time, nap time

Time wise, we’re on time

Alone time, time well spent

Don’t waste time, not worth my time

More time, less time, out of time

Good time, bad time

Father time

Time catches up to you

Time marches on

Time heals all wounds

Anytime, every time, another time

I don’t have time

While killing time

In the meantime, downtime

Time warp, timeshare, time machine

Timeclock, timekeeper

In a timely manner

Don’t be a two timer

Just in the nick of time

A stitch in time saves nine

There’s no time like the present

There's only so much time in a day

Let the good times roll

Time for me to wrap this up

Finish

Finish the story

Before we eat

Finish the minutes

Before we meet

Finish the laundry

Before you cook

Finish the work

Assigned in the book

Finish your shopping

We want to play

The register says

Finish and pay

Finish what you start

Finish it on time

When you’re in a race

Cross the finish line

Happy 65th Birthday to a new Mah Jongg Friend, Sharon Byrne-Jones

You were looking for a game

On Mah Jongg That’s It

I invited you to come

And it became a good fit

Is it crazy or insane

Coming alone

To a stranger’s home

Facing the unknown

And is it risky

To have a stranger come

Into your home

Or is it just dumb

But Mah Jongg is special

And people want to play

Spending a few hours

Enjoying their day

So no one seems to fear

This unique situation

Where strangers will meet

Without hesitation

Pieces of the Twin Towers - A memorial to keep

The 20th anniversary

Of a horrible day

Ingrained in my mind

It will never go away

That remaining steel

Would stand to defy

What happened that day

When two planes did fly

Many pieces of steel

Have been given away

To build memorials

Commemorating that day

A part of the Twin Towers

Memorials that will stay

In defiance of those trying

To destroy the U.S.A.

To vaccinate or not to vaccinate - Against Covid 19

To vaccinate or not

That is the question

Some people think

It is just a suggestion

Vaccines are required

To go to school

Or you can’t go

That is the rule

The Covid vaccine

I'm glad it came quick

Though I'm still aware

That I can get sick

It has given us freedom

From wearing a mask

Getting all to comply

Has become a hard task

Why such reluctance

To get a vaccine

Are they in doubt

Or just being mean

Did you get the vaccine

Is it okay to ask

If their answer is no

Will they wear a mask

Should we avoid people

Who are not vaccinated

A topic that's become

Highly debated

A booster shot

Is now being required

Because the protection

Will soon be expired

Is Covid 19 finally gone?

After so many months

In social isolation

And many not taking

A family vacation

Cities were in lockdown

For months at a time

Hardly anyone was out

Committing a crime

Living in fear

Of this dreadful disease

If you went out in public

Don’t dare to sneeze

Restrictions now lifted

Masks you may not need

Get the Covid vaccine

Don’t let others mislead

No daily broadcasts

Of those who have died

Without any loved ones

Along their bedside

Schools have reopened

No learning on Zoom

And gathering with friends

Has now resumed

Stores and restaurants

Hiring many to work

Some giving a bonus

As an employment perk

But let's never forget

All those who were brave

Risking their lives

For people to save

To my dear dying dad - Elliot Linsky DOB 1/18/1927 died at the age of 94 on March 22, 2021

I had written you a poem

And saw it on display

It was 14 years ago

On your 80th birthday

It was quite a challenge

For me when you got sick

But you were very happy

With Atria I picked

You were so well liked there

And never did complain

With your friendly smile

You never were a pain

A ladies’ man you were

And Shirley was your friend

Until she left abruptly

The friendship had to end

The past months had been rough

In social isolation

Because the Covid virus

There was no visitation

And then we got a call

To get here very quick

So, Alan drove here fast

Because you’ve gotten sick

That hospice place was understaffed

Therefore, I threw a fit

To get you in their hospital

I called and never quit

I knew this day would come

But still in disbelief

You're lying in a hospital bed

My heart is filled with grief

I come and visit daily

And watch you slip away

But memories I have of you

With me will always stay

By, Randee Saber, beloved daughter 3/19/2021

Poem below I wrote for my dad's 80th birthday that was on display on his TV stand

Dad's 80th birthday

You're young at heart

You're as young as you feel

Turning 80

Is no big deal

You don't use a walker

You don't use a cane

And believe it or not

You're still sane

You're nice and slim

With no extra weight

But you've always managed

To clean your plate

You love to read

You share your knowledge

You married young

While still in college

A helpful spouse

You cook and clean

You don't lose your temper

You're never mean

Patrolling the waters

The ocean and bay

The Coast Guard Auxiliary

Makes your day

Playing softball

Keeps you strong

You've played many years

Exactly how long?

You're proud of your wife

She's stood by your side

For so many years

The knot's been tied

You're proud of your children

And grandchildren too

And they of course

Are proud of you

As your journey continues

What more can I say

Take care of yourself

Have a happy birthday

The Covid 19 Vaccine

The Covid vaccine

It's finally here

Pfizer, Moderna

Stand up and cheer

Two shots are needed

A few weeks apart

After your first

It's a good start

To get the vaccine

Some are afraid

They say too quickly

It had been made

Protect yourself

From getting sick

The virus won't care

Who it will pick

Working from home

Stay at home orders

Thank heavens for Zoom

The meetings you have

You can do in any room

Nice clothes aren’t needed

No new friends to make

When working from home

No car will you take

No office romances

No baby showers

And you won’t see

Who’s getting flowers

No one supervising

You’re on your own

Spending more time

On your cell phone

No sexual harassment

There’s no one around

When working at home

It’s like a ghost town

Some people enjoy

This solitude

And not dealing with

Co-workers who are rude
